Albatroz launches new major update with 'Free Roam mode'

Hello, everyone!

We’re thrilled to share that a brand-new update for Albatroz has just landed! Patch #15 is now live on Steam, introducing the exciting Free Roam mode — a whole new way to experience the Forbidden Lands, alongside plenty of fixes and enhancements.

In Free Roam mode, players can traverse the breathtaking landscapes of Albatroz without the pressures of core survival mechanics like fuel management, vehicle durability, or character stats. However, resource management remains in effect, and arm consumption is still active, ensuring that strategy never disappears entirely.

We’re so grateful for your continued support and can’t wait for you to try out this major update! Albatroz Patch #15 will also be coming soon to consoles, so stay tuned for more details. For the full list of changes, check out the Patch Notes below.

Patch 15 - Free Roam

Community Pack

We’re adding a new mode called Free Roam, something players have been requesting for a while. The idea behind this mode is to let you focus on exploration without the RPG mechanics getting in the way.

Free Roam is perfect for those who want to:

Explore at their own pace

- Focus on the narrative

- Discover the path to Albatroz

- Hunt for hidden places

In this mode:

You’ll lose no stats from exploring (feet, arms, hunger and thirsty).

Temperature has little to no effect.

Car fuel consumption and car damage are minimal.

Buff items last much longer before wearing off.

However:

Arm stats are still consumed normally.

World damage still applies — meaning if a rock falls on your head, a strong wind strikes you, an enemy attacks, or you fall from a high place, you’ll still lose health as usual.

You can switch to Free Roam at the beginning of the game (right after starting your journey) or at any time through the configuration menu.

  • Environment: Removed a rock blocking the middle of a bridge in the last city (seriously, how did nobody report that until now? ).
